Should be just fine as long as the runtime libraries on other platforms support these structures, which I expect they do.

I'm not sure you can claim that. I don't think facebook ever claimed they weren't doing things like this, so I don't think you can say they broke our trust. I think you can say that we, collectively, were inappropriately naive. And certainly, nobody really reads EULAs, but folks should have some idea what is happening with their data. That's just due diligence, and googling 'how facebook makes money' pulls up plenty of information.
At the end of the day, folks need to become more savvy consumers, IMO, and can't arbitrarily place trust in just any company with a website (no matter how large).

In the United States? The Republican Party. For many Republicans, this is an ideological issue and an example of government overreach into free markets.

To be completely honest I’m not entirely sure how these deals came to be. I honestly don’t really have a problem with that either - high definition video takes up tons of bandwidth, and it seems appropriate that the Netflixes of the world would pay for that bandwidth. Hosting is a completely different business, albeit one that ISPs are also involved in. Any net neutrality rules really only address bandwidth use and management rather than hosting. Honestly, as long as there is sufficient competition between ISPs, I think net neutrality legislation is overrated. The problem isn’t really net neutrality as much as it is lack of competition in significant portions of the United States.

Yep. Netflix also leases significant space from ISPs to place equipment as close to the last mile as possible. My gut feeling is no NN will have some effects, but they won't be as bad as they're currently made out to be. But who knows.

Thanks for the comments Jeff! It's nice to know somebody's reading what I write. Parameterized queries are no silver bullet, but they're certainly effective when they can be used, and I appreciate you pointing that out.
I don't think RASP is something I could really compare here though. ASLR is a perfect comparison to RASP - thanks for mentioning it. ASLR is a specific approach to defeating stack overflows, and is well understood as such; RASP is a group of possible approaches, some of which will be more effective than others. And different vendors will implement different types of controls within a proposed RASP solution. This is all just fine, but it makes the inclusion of RASP really more of an apples-to-oranges comparison.
Thanks for the insightful comments! I think these are great points, I'm glad you made them.

This is a really good point - fast lanes don't need to be used just for commercial purposes.

Absolutely! In all fairness though, I do point this out in the very first sentence :-)

Sure! Imagine having to outline a red ball against a blue background in an image.

Well, maybe - industrial systems have their own legacy. But they certainly are suffering from some of the same kinds of problems.

There's another good read out there that I recommend for anybody interested in international cyber activities - Kaplan's Dark Territory. It's a pretty fast read, and it shows how cyber capabilities evolved in the US.

This is a good point, I should have made this more clear. I think though there's significant risks with microcontroller-based devices too, though, especially if network comms are part of the attack surface. Personally, I expect to see migration out of the microcontroller design approach into embedded Linux (EL) as EL tools become more adopted. The services you can have out-of-the-box on Linux seems to provide a compelling case for EL.

I disagree with your assessment of the Android market. It's larger, but not nearly as profitable. And culturally, I don't think that's going to change, especially with the recent growth of iOS in China.

Thanks for pointing that out! I'll make the change in my example playground and make sure everything's cool there, then update to be compliant with 2.2.
